But of course - the works great for an alpha or a beta, so don't let it stop you from releasing that alpha we're all eagerly awaiting. But I wouldn't call it "final" ;)
Looks kinda nice. But could you please show it without all the effects and colors, in various sizes, on dark and light background? Because, as far as I know, that's the only way to say if given logotype works well.
louis: I wanted something very simple, geometric, without need of special effects. TextMate, Eclipse and Rails are all complicated. I'm happy to have it very simple, working in sizes starting from 16x16, with or without colors or effects.
eyeless pirate: Yes, I'll upload full definition, so you can see it's job. ;)
I see that you use same kind of relaxation as me :). The logo itself is nice, but like louis said without the text intype, it is hard to guess the "product"
My opinion - Just the green i isn't really an outstanding symbol. Using a capital T inside the logo would make it more distinguishable. As it allways is used in every program as -text- insertion symbol.
Pretty cool logo - frankly, textpad with its pathetic (sorry) logo, is one of the best editor on Windows, so logo is the least worry!!
Make intype closed source and paid, at least at first, so you can earn loads of $ and quit your job, develop it more and make us all happy. It's hard to be on Windows after seeing TextMates - I hope the guy doesn't turn around and sue you though.
I work as information designer at web-development company in Prague. My responsibilities are to design usable and productive user interfaces for web sites and applications.
Intype is text editor for MS Windows inspired by TextMate.
It is a work-in-progress and is not available for download yet. This blog
only describes already implemented and incomming features in actual progress. Please, feel free to share
some ideas or your feature requests.
Intype Alpha?
Alpha release is planned to first half of september fall/winter of 2006. This is not a sharp dead-line. It may shift in granularity of weeks.

It's great!
I like it :)

Nice play on the name intype with the "cut out" styling on the text, even though it's not normally a look I go for
The logo works very well, new media-ish without being *too* web2.0-ish
good to take break from the coding for a bit I bet! :0)

I like it, but as a "logo" I don't think it needs text. With the text, it's more of a website banner.

Nice!

To be honest, it seems a bit ... boring.
The logo doesn't say anything about the product. The logo doesn't relate much to InType either.
Consider other logos: Rails itself, TextMate, of course, Eclipse, probably the most popular editor outside of Visual Studio, and Java, of all things!

I like it. And you can read it as an 'i' with the dot on it.

It looks good , some like Apple Computer's logo. :)

I kind of like it. What I don't like is the asymmetry - the text is smaller than the logo, which doesn't look great.
I am personally more happy with my little remake, the one I made based on your old logo. Here it is again, so everyone can see.

"comming soon" should be "coming soon"

I've to agree with Louis :(

Best of luck, can't wait for intype

Looks good but dosnt make any sense with your product. Infact, looks like a common symetry, have seen somewhere!!! but cannot guess where exactly.
